Visual Asset Manager 6.3 Released

The goal of every update to the Visual Asset Manager software platform is to address the rapidly changing field of property management. At E-ISG we understand that new challenges and scenarios present themselves on a daily basis, and thus we work tirelessly to deliver the most adaptive and flexible asset management software on the market.

Our mission is to deliver total asset visibility - the ability for your organization to understand and execute on every relevant detail about your asset inventory. Accordingly, the upgrades in VAM 6.3 are designed to optimize and streamline property management and workflow by: expediting the rapid acquisition of new assets into the inventory, encouraging reliable and secure asset deployment and moves, allowing for greater accountability when managing grants and allocated funds, and facilitating the flexibility of the VAM software platform by including customizable features that adapt to the specific ways your organization operates.

Property Management is a dynamic endeavor, one that changes with each new challenge and assignment. Visual Asset Manager is a flexible platform designed to react to the growing changes and demands of fixed and mobile asset management. The Visual Asset Manager 6.3 upgrade reflects the latest and most innovative functionalities designed to help property managers face the rapidly changing demands of asset and inventory management.

The following features have been added or upgraded to help your organization remain on the cutting edge of asset management:

  1. New and Improved Manage Inventory-by-Location Plug-in
    • Users can now search by purchase order number which allows for greater accountability when managing grants and allocated funds. Similarly, in an effort to encourage greater flexibility when managing work flow, VAM 6.3 allows users to add multiple entries to the queue. Furthermore, asset quantity is now displayed in the search result which facilitates a more dynamic insight into asset availability and status.
    • Destination location and site displayed in queue fosters greater awareness and control when managing asset moves
    • The removal of duplicate bar-codes has improved the consistency of asset information allowing for accurate insight into asset status and condition.
  2.  Asset Quantity Manager

    • Manage the quantity of all assets within Visual Asset Manager 6.3 – encouraging reliable and expedient asset deployment by allowing property managers to maintain accurate records and accounts of your organization’s entire asset inventory.
  3. Add Asset Plug-In
    • Users can add new assets to VAM quickly and easily allowing rapid absorption of new assets into the inventory, while also streamlining the asset acquisition process by allowing users to set default values for any number of fields.
  4. Maintenance Work-Order Plug-In
    • This feature allows users to track and manage every aspect of their maintenance work orders from people, to tasks, to equipment. With its useful calendar display, users will be able to easily manage a streamlined, visual representation of their maintenance work-order schedule.
  5. Location and Summary Field Permissions
    • To encourage total asset visibility, VAM 6.3 allows property managers a greater degree of insight by including Read Only, Mandatory, Hidden, and Default Value for Location and People Summary Fields.
  6. Spreadsheet Reporting
    • VAM 6.3’s spreadsheet reporting feature has been upgraded with to allow parameters within report templates. This is ideal for VAM users who rely on spreadsheets to satisfy grant requirements and for those users who use spreadsheets to stay on top of their asset inventory management.
  7. Asset Reservation
    • VAM 6.3’s asset reservation feature has been upgraded to include a permission which provides administrators the ability to delete reservations. This places more control in the hands of the admin, helping to streamline the asset management workflow.
  8. Network Asset Manager
    • Workstation Audit tool now has the functionality to search for data on every computer in your organization’s network and reconcile that data in VAM. This is useful for importing data from your domain into VAM6.
  9. Summary Information Screens
    • In an effort to further customize VAM to your organization’s specific needs, the Location, People, and Asset Summary Information screens have been removed and have been replaced with new customizable tabs. These highly flexible tabs have been created to hold the old Summary Information screen data, and yet will only display the information most relevant to your needs.
  10. Property Pass
    • The VAM 6.3 has implemented an import/export feature for the property pass print out reports. This allows users to create SQL reports, and within the plug in, import and export those reports effectively creating customized property pass print outs, complete with organizationally specific information.
  11. Active Directory Plug-In
    • To create greater insight into active staff members, VAM 6.3 now supports a plug-in that allows importing of Active Directory data into VAM6. This plug-in can be used to import any amount of data from your Active Directory into Visual Asset Manager as either Users or People.
  12. Installation Framework 
    • VAM 6.3 includes a new military framework completed with new categories, tabs, and fields designed specifically to meet the demands and needs of our Military clients.

Known Issues and Bugs

As part of E-ISG’s commitment to developing the most full-proof asset management system we have provided our users with a list of resolved issues and bugs from previous versions of Visual Asset Manager that have been addressed in the VAM 6.3 upgrade.

Resolved Issues and Bugs:

  • Resolved Issue:  Field value and value lists are no longer deleted when migrating data-type from text, number, float, or date to the dropdown menu.
  • Resolved Issue: EMS summary plug-in no longer removes values from value lists
  • Resolved Issue: EMS summary plug-in can no longer import records with blank data in the grant year/grant type field
  • Resolved Issue: Importer can no longer be used to add values to the value list
  • Resolved Issue: Can no longer move inventory to the same location where it is currently positioned (effectively removed a faulty feature that impeded a streamlined workflow).

Minor Adjustments:

  • Changed the label from “reports” to “Microsoft Report Serve” in the Reports Menu
  • Created a Tool Tip to show the full name of categories in the category tree
  • Created a progress screen that updates the progress of plug-in installation instead of displaying a blank screen.
  • Fixed the Manage Asset by Location and Manage People by Location screens so that they property update the Plan-ID
  • Implemented a proper error message for invalid data in a regular expression field.
  • Improved the interaction between mandatory field message and the form designer to improve user interface
